Turnbull must now fix Abbott’s toll road woes
The report handed down by the federal Auditor-General examining federal funding decisions for East West Link confirms that the Abbott Government’s toll road agenda was purely political, say the Greens.
“We now know Tony Abbott made a 'captain's pick' by giving billions of taxpayers’ dollars to his Liberal mates in Victoria without a business case and against the advice of public servants,” said Greens member for Melbourne, Adam Bandt MP.
"In any fair world, Tony Abbott and Denis Napthine would be hauled before a tribunal for intentionally wasting billions of dollars in public funds for nakedly political purposes."
"Prime Minister Turnbull must immediately recant his support for the East-West tollway and return the money to the Melbourne Metro Rail project."
